The Truth About Fat Loss: What Nobody Tells You

The Truth About Fat Loss: What Nobody Tells You

The Fat Loss Industry Is Lying to You

Every week there is a new miracle diet, a new fat-burning supplement, a new 7-day shred programme. The fitness industry generates billions by keeping people confused and cycling between hope and failure.

At BHB, we cut through the noise. Here is what the science actually says about fat loss.

Fundamental Truth #1: A Caloric Deficit Is Non-Negotiable

You cannot lose fat without consuming fewer calories than you burn. This is thermodynamics — not a diet philosophy.

  • Maintenance calories = Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE)
  • Fat loss = TDEE minus 300–500 calories daily
  • 1kg of fat ≈ 7,700 calories

This means at a 500 calorie/day deficit, you lose approximately 1kg of fat every 15 days. This is realistic, sustainable, and evidence-based.

Fundamental Truth #2: Protein Is Your Best Friend

In a caloric deficit, your body can burn both fat AND muscle for fuel. High protein intake (2–2.4g per kg of bodyweight) signals your body to preserve muscle while burning fat.

High protein also:

  • Keeps you fuller for longer (reduces hunger)
  • Has a high thermic effect (your body burns more calories digesting it)
  • Supports muscle repair and retention during a cut

Fundamental Truth #3: Cardio Helps But Is Not the Answer

Cardio burns calories, which helps create the deficit. But:

  • It also increases appetite
  • Excessive cardio without resistance training leads to muscle loss
  • You cannot out-run a bad diet

The BHB recommendation: 2–4 sessions of moderate cardio (20–40 min) per week alongside resistance training. Not 2 hours on the treadmill daily.

Fundamental Truth #4: Sleep Destroys or Multiplies Your Results

Studies show that people who sleep less than 6 hours lose significantly more muscle and significantly less fat compared to those sleeping 8+ hours — even in identical caloric deficits.

Sleep:

  • Regulates ghrelin (hunger hormone)
  • Optimises cortisol (stress/fat-storage hormone)
  • Supports growth hormone release (muscle retention)

Fundamental Truth #5: Consistency Beats Perfection

One perfect week followed by two bad weeks produces zero results. One consistent year of 80% adherence produces dramatic transformation.

The best diet is the one you can stick to. The best training programme is the one you actually do.

The BHB Fat Loss Formula

  1. Calculate TDEE and eat 400 calories below it
  2. Hit 2g protein per kg bodyweight daily
  3. Train with weights 3–4x per week
  4. Add 2–3 cardio sessions (walking counts)
  5. Sleep 7–9 hours
  6. Repeat for 12+ weeks without stopping

That is the entire formula. No tricks. No supplements. Just science and discipline.
